"Snakk og prat om musikk med Torstein". En casestudie omkring konseptet "radioprogram" i musikkterapien i møte med en elev med Asperger syndrom

Abstract

Summary. - In this thesis I take a closer look at the concept ”radio program” in music teraphy when faced with a client diagnosed with Asperger´s syndrome. The thesis is formed as a case study based on participant observation, as well as qualitative interviews with two music therapists. One of the respondents has experience from the concept of a ”radio program” in music therapy. The other respondent has background from exploring the use of drama in music terapy, which I find relevant, due to the fact that I consider the radio program as role playing. On this basis I have reached the following research question: What does the concept ”radio program” afford music therapy when faced with a client diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome? Through the use of different qualitative approaches and by taking a closer look at the radio program, I have found that the concept ”radio program” offers a clear structure in music therapy when faced with a client diagnosed with Asperger´s syndrome; a structure which facilitates the use of drama in music therapy. The findings of this study are discussed in the light of theory on structure and drama. In addition, I discuss the radio program with regards to core criteria of autism and what Bruscia defines as the four main methods in music therapy.

Sammendrag. - I denne studien ser jeg nærmere på konseptet ”radioprogram” i musikkterapi i møte med en elev med Asperger syndrom. Studien er en casestudie basert på deltagende observasjon så vel som kvalitative intervjuer med to musikkterapeuter. En av informantene har erfaring med bruk av konseptet ”radioprogram” i musikkterapi. Den andre informanten har bakgrunn fra bruk av drama i musikkterapi, hvilket jeg finner relevant i tråd med min oppfatning av radioprogrammet som et rollespill. Med dette som bakgrunn har jeg kommet frem til følgende problemstilling: Hva kan konseptet ”radioprogram” tilby musikkterapien i møte med en elev med Asperger syndrom? Gjennom bruk av ulike kvalitative forskningsmetoder, og ved å gå i dybden på selve radioprogrammet, har jeg funnet at konseptet ”radioprogram” tilbyr en klar struktur i musikkterapien i møte med en elev med Asperger syndrom. En struktur som legger til rette for bruk av drama i musikkterapi. Studiens funn drøftes inn mot teori omkring struktur og drama. I tillegg diskuteres konseptet ”radioprogram” opp mot kjernekriterier ved autisme og det Bruscia omtaler som de fire hovedmetodene i musikkterapi.
