Norges musikkhøgskole. Masteroppgave. Musikkpedagogikken_US
Abstract - The goal for this master thesis is to shed light on pop artists in Norway, and their reflections on the subject’s practice, ambition, musical background, and their thought on the term talent. In this master thesis I have recruited four top artists from Norway. The research question to be addressed in this master thesis is How do pop artists with formal music education versus pop artists with no formal music education understand and use the term talent, and how does these understandings relate to understanding and meaning of education and learning? To answer this question, I conducted a qualitative study using interviews with four informants. The goal was that the informants were able to describe and reflect on their own musical development, their day-to-day music life, and their understanding of the terms talent. I also gathered former study on talent, practice, and formal and informal learning. The informants' reflections create the empirical base for this thesis. I have compared the empirical base with earlier research on the subject, with a goal in mind; gather possible answers to my research question.en_US
