dc.description.abstract | Summary
This study describes a band project from a music therapy perspective, with adolescents living in a psychiatric institution. The project was lead by two music therapist students and I was one of them. The thesis says: ”How does adolescents living in a psychiatric institution describe their gain from participating in a band project with a music therapy perspective?” The study focus on quotes from the informants that joined the band project. The process of establishing the band is also described. The research design is qualitative and explorative, and the methods used is participatory observation and semi structured interviews. The study is a case study using a procedure of analysis through a hermeneutic – fenomenological perspective. The study found that the band can offer motivation through experiences of mastery, community and collaboration. The band also offers a high degree of participation, and is a place where the participants can have a break from their illness and a place to share emotions.
| nb_NO |
