Ut av mørket og inn i rampelyset! En kvalitativ studie av musikkteater i en musikkterapeutisk kontekst for barn med autismespekterforstyrrelse.

Abstract

SAMMENDRAG Denne masteravhandlingen presenterer en studie som undersøker hvordan barn med autismespekterforstyrrelser opplever å delta i et musikkteater-prosjekt i en musikkterapeutisk kontekst. Hovedproblemformuleringen dreier seg om hvordan fremføring kan fremme barnas livskvalitet. For å undersøke dette har jeg utført et feltarbeid og videre foretatt et fokusgruppeintervju med assistentene som bistod barna i dette. Dette intervjuet har hatt et fokus på å finne ut hvordan assistentene tolker og opplever barnas opplevelser i ulike musikkteater-aktiviteter. Formålet med denne avhandlingen er blant annet å inspirere og presentere nye metodeverktøy til musikkterapeuter som enten jobber eller vil jobbe med barn med autismespekterforstyrrelser. Studien ser hvordan musikkterapi kan brukes med kombinasjon av dramaterapi og andre metodeverktøy innen autismeforskning. Avhandlingen håper jeg også kan bidra til belyse aspekter ved hva musikkterapi er og kan brukes til ovenfor andre relevante faggrupper.

SUMMARY: -- This thesis examines how children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) react to and experience participation in a music theatre performance in the context of music therapy. In this thesis I also want to find out how performance might increase their quality of life. I have conducted a focus group interview with a group of assistants from a Norwegian primary school, based on field work that I conducted with a group of children with ASD. How the children's assistants experience the children's reactions during music therapy, and how they interpret the children's attitudes during the various activities has been one of my main areas of focus. The purpose of this thesis is, amongst other things, to inspire other music therapists who either work with, or want to work with children who have ASD, as well as to present them with different methods and therapeutic tools that they can use. I also hope that this thesis can help present various aspects of music therapy to other professional groups.
